Code of ethics

Asheville Football Club Code of Ethics:

Players

  • I will encourage good sportsmanship and respect to my fellow teammates, opponents, coaches, game officials and parents at all times

  • I will refrain from using any abusive or insulting language. Treat everyone with dignity and respect

  • Honor the commitment to the club

  • Take full responsibility of my actions and will maintain a positive attitude

  • Maintain a good physical condition which includes healthy eating habits, proper sleep and exercise

  • I will recognize that training/practices are as important as official games

  • I will take full responsibility for attending all team events and or practices

  • I will respect the head coaches role and decisions along with club player development methods

  • Understand team objectives and goals

  • Respect facility rules and report any damages to facilities

  • Clean-up after themselves after practices or games

  • Represent our club at all times on and off the fields

  • I will not use, possess or distribute illegal drugs, controlled substances and/or alcohol

Parents

  • I will always show respect, fair play and good sportsmanship towards players, coaches, opponents, fans and game officials

  • Demonstrate positive attitude, with and about, your child’s teammates, team, club and coaching staff.

  • Will honor the commitment to the club

  • I will take responsibility to make sure player arrives on time prior to practices and official games that are designated by the head coach

  • Understand team objectives and goals as it relates to player development

  • Help maintain a positive environment

  • Show encouragement to all players at all times

  • Respect the coaches role and decisions

  • The 24 hour rule, waiting a full day after a game or practice to communicate or schedule a meeting for any comments or concerns

  • I will refrain from any abusive or insulting languages towards any player, coach, opponents and game officials

  • It is prohibited to invade field of play/games and or practices

  • Respect facility rules and report any damages

  • Support a drug free and alcohol free environment in official games and practices

  • I will remember that the game is for the players, not for the adults

Coaching Staff

  • Coaches first priority is health, safety and education of the players

  • Coaches second priority is to develop an elite environment for players, coaches and referees

  • Coaches must always treat players with dignity and respect

  • Coaches should direct feedback at the players athletic performance

  • Coaches will focus on player development and core values

  • Coaches must treat referees and match officials with dignity and respect

  • Coaches must not use profane, abusive, or condescending language towards players, parents or officials.

  • Coaches understand that the desire to win does not mean the desire to win at all costs

  • Coaches will encourage players to be personally accountable for their actions, decisions, and performances

  • Coaches should remain in the technical area during games, if no clear technical area is marked on the field, coaches should remain within 10 yards of their bench

  • Coaches should dress professionally during any competition or practice, in proper athletic apparel and shoes
